The first step is to telephone the Shelter and arrange a visit to look at the dogs and cats needing new homes. When you have found one you would like to offer a home to (It isn’t difficult, the hardest part is not wanting to take them all) the Shelter staff will tell you if he/she is ready for re-homing. (You can find out all about our Re-homing practices on another page in this section.) We have to keep all pets for at least a week in case their owners come to claim them. Also we have them all neutered and make sure they are in good health - all this takes time. If your chosen pet is ready for re-homing he/she can be taken away immediately. If they are not ready you can reserve them. You will be told when they will be ready and how much your donation will be. When the time comes for you to collect your pet please telephone before coming to the Shelter. Please bring with you something with your name and address so that we can register your pet to you. We will also ask you to sign the ‘Adopting Conditions’ You can see these on another page in this section
We strongly recommend
that you have your new pet ‘identi-chipped’. This will ensure
that if your dog/cat were to get lost or stolen and was later
found we would be able to find you and arrange for it to be picked
up. This may also avoid you having to pay the Dog Warden Charge
of £77.50.
We Microchip all of our cats and dogs on Adoption, this is included in the price of adoption, Dogs £60 - £100 and cats £40 - £75 |
